emily eibel

i saw the link to emily eibel's stitched works of art on design*sponge this evening. i had wondered before if it would be possible to machine stitch pictures on a regular sewing machine, but it looks quite difficult. of course i don't know how emily makes her pictures, but that's how i imagine it would be done. a really cool use of this technique i think!

spools art

on the thisisloveforever blog i came across the work of installation artist devorah sperber. apart from from noticing her first name (the same as mine and not seen very often) i was amazed with her works. she uses spools of thread to form pictures, sort of like big pixels. the degree of detail is amazing, i would love to see some of these in real life.

textiel kunst

al surfend ben ik de objecten van de getalenteerde tamar mogendorff tegengekomen, op een nogal onverwachte plek. ik weet niet wat jullie er van vinden, maar ik vind ze beeldschoon. vooral de zwaan is buitengewoon mooi! de dieren zijn gemaakt van onder andere wol, mohair, katoen, gerecyclede stoffen en antieke knopen. er staat op haar website geen persoonlijke informatie, maar haar naam en de titels van sommige van haar objecten verraden een israƫlische afkomst. ik kan niet anders zeggen dan nifla!
